HAMILTON WESLEY AN SUNDAYSCHOOL ANNIVERSARY.

A rimnc meeting was held in the church on Tuesday evening, and notwithstanding the very bad weather a fair number of parents and friends assembled. The Rev. J. Dukes occupied the chair, and called upon Mr G. French, the superintendent, to read the annual report, which was very encouraging, the number on the roll being 8(>. Six years ago, when he staited the bchool with but 1G scholars, people tried to dibcouiage him, but the report pro\ed conclusively that his efforts had not been in sain. The speaker referred in terms of praise to the Auckland Scripture Gift Association, which was one of the best of its kind, and in conclusion asked the co-opera-tion of the parents, as the children which they wore then trainin.fr were the men and women of the future. Recitation, Edwin Davey ; reading, Mrs Dukes. The Rev. S. Lawry was at one with the children, the parents and the teachers. He gave good advice to the teachers ; theirs was the work of making furrows in the heart of the children in which the good seed might find a lodgment, and to extract all evil weeds which would binder the growth of the seed. Solo, Miss Trewheellar; recitation, W. Andrew ; recitation, Kate Salmon ; solo, Miss Salmon. The Rev. J. Dukes referred to the great spread of Sunday-schools since Robert Raikes, journalist, of Gloucester, started two Sunday-schools there 101 years ago. He claimed that these institutions had done a great deal to raise the moral tono of society by giving the children instruction in the purest code of morals in the worid, and through their instrumentality had been rai&ed some of the best Christian wqrkers that had ever lived. He was pleased to note such improvement iv the school, and hoped it would continue to improve. Recitation, Elizabeth Davis ; recitation, Nellie ' Dukes ; recitation, Ruth Wyatt ; duet, Mrs Home and Mias Trewheellar ; recitation, Thos. Rothwell; recitation, Richard Edwards. The recitations and vocal music were all appropriate and rendered very creditably, and the Benediction, pronounced by the Rev. S. Lawry, concluded a very interesting meeting.

The attention of all parties concerned is dra^rn to an important notice re pigs and goatf by the picrk of the Waipa County Council.
