Installation of Mayor. Aucklyn'd, Wednesday Night. Mr Wadueltj was installed mayor for the second term to-day.
Dion Boucicault. Dion Boueicanlt, actor and dramatist, has written to Mr Abbot, stating that he leaves for Australia and New Zealand by the next mail boat or thp one that follows it.
Fantham v. Maclean and Another. At the Supreme Court, to-day, the application of Mr Every Maclean that the case of Fantham v. Maclean and another should be dismissed, was again heaid, and was allowed to stand over till next court day, Mr Hesketh saying that his Honour nu^ht not be troubled again with the matter.
Supreme Court. The petition of Mr Allan Kerr Taylor to be allowed to soil an estate at Tamaki (of which he was trustee), for the benefit of his brother's children, was adjourned for consideration until Tuesday next. The property belonged to the late Mr Richard James Taylor, and it ia now sought to realise upon it for the benefit of his children, all of whom are consenting parties. Two, however, are minors, and, as Mr Hesketh pointed out, the trust deed provided that the sale should take place when the youngest (now 13 years) had attained his majority. The estate is valued at £1600 or £1700.
Sunday Trading. Messrs Kidd, Oram, Dunninglnm and Odffrey, leading hotel-keepers, are among those summoned for Sunday grog-selling.
Attempted Suicide. A man named Paron, afiat. Starkey, attempted suicide in the police cells last night. He hung himself by a strap, but was discovered aud cut down before life was extinct.
