At the Police Court to-day, Robert Roskill, late lailway stationmaster at Normanby, was discharged on a charge of embezzlement, the Crown offering uo evidence, and it waa believed it was not a criminal case but simply one of muddling of accounts. The principle attractions were the annual Flower Show and Oamaru Racing Club's Races, both of which were great success. WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A circular issued by the Government respecting the hours of attendance of civil servants is now going the rounds of thedepavtments. The regulations are very stringent, and compel each officer to sign the attendance on arrival at the office in the morning, but should he be later than 9.35, he will lose his chonce of doing so, and the day will bo counted as if he was

absent. At the end of each month the number of hours of the attendance 'of officers will be made the subject of report. Mr C. T. Keyworth has, it is understood, been appointed Assistant-Secretary to the New Zealand Exhibition. Breeders of sheep who intend sending exhibits to the New Zealand Exhibition Irom this season's clip must put up samples of each description, labelled under piivate marks, stating the sex, age, months, growth, name and address, and corresponding mark under sealed cover.
