KIHIKIHI NEWS.

Efforts are being made by the Presbyterians here to build a church. Steps have been taken to carry out the intention, and a committee was formed for that purpose, A meeting was held in Mr Elmsley s on Monday evening, the Rev. Mr Hutson in the chair. The secretary reported what had been done in the matter since the last meeting. Subscription lists have been opened, and so far applications for subscriptions have been liberally responded to. Mr Armstrong drew the plans of the proposed church, and the committee forwarded them to the Presbytery of Auckland for approval. That body having approved of them, the work will be begun as soon at) possible. Tenders will be called for when the plans are returned from Auckland, which will be this week. The site of the new church will be on the Presbyterian property here. Part of the reserve has been leased, and the remainder kept for a church site. It will have two frontages, one of which will be on the main street. During the erection of the building Mr Armstrong is to be the architect — (Own Correspondent.)
