BOROUGH TENDERING.

TO THE EDITOR. Sin, — The borough council in its wisdom thought fit to refuse Mr Davy's tender for supplies becauso he is not a principal. I should like to ask those gentlemen composing the council what makes a principal, and how some of them became principals themselves ? For the information of some of them, allow me to nay that Mr Davy's credit in both Hamilton and Auckland will 9tand a far stronger test than theirs, though they are so-called principals ; and if ever he becomes a principal I am sure it will not be by back-door practices. Who is Davy ? For the information of the gentleman who asked that question, allow me to say that if he will re*{gn his seat jn the counpil Mr Davy will willingly contest it with him to r>ee who is the better known of tho two, The whole thing was evidently a piece of spite, and when spite gets into his heart common sense says farewell to his head. As long as the borough is supplied with good' articles at ;a reasonable price, and where a guarantee of one pound is deposited till such feiina, as , the. contrast terminates, why should hot anyone, whether principal or not, supply those articles ?— I am, &c, >>, „ „, .
