CAMBRIDGE WEST SCHOOL.

Tut, annual children's concert took place on the Ist lnst. The programme consisted of tiie cantata " Alfred the Gieat" and some instrumental music. During the interval between the first and second pait, the chairman of the committee, AJr Allen, read the, report of the standaid examination, which stated that the •« hole of the work done was satisfactory. The number of pupils examined was thirty-five, of which twenty-six passed and nine failed. The chairman exphined that the a\ ciago of passes, was a little below last year, but still .ibove the general average. The successful pupils were then called and their certificates awarded. The children'ssinging and playing was a credit to the teacheis. Louisa Harris, Sarah Johns, and Lulu Tuck each played a solo on the pianoforte. The conceit was thoroughly enjoyed and the applause was fiequeut and vigorous. The duet sung by Misses A. and S. Johns was exceptionally good. At the conclusion the chairman expressed his great satisfaction with the evening's entertainment and said great credit was due to the teacher, also the children. — (Correspondent)
