The news) of the accidental death of' the poor man Aheir by falling down the shaft of the Inipeii.il irime at the Thames, was received hero this morning with pretty general feelings of biirpribe and awe. He is well known here, having been for some time, and until just recently, in the employ of Messrs Wells and Soutter. He was on his way to Auckland iv search of fresh employment. He leaves a widow who is unfortunately in a very feeble state of health, and m almost destitute circumstances, with three or four little childien.
