Mb Rochkobt and party arrived at Te Awamutu on Tuosday night. They begin woilc to-day (Weduebday) on the line. Messrs Hursthouse and Holmes will also ba engaged with him. The first section will be fifteen miles in length. When the survey is completed, and soundings taken at the river and the various swamps, tenders will be called for, but that will not be for at leant six months, at any rate not as soon aa many people expect. The first sod will not be turned by the beginning of February as anticipated. The work of surveying cannot be completed before the end of the year, after which plans and specifications will have to be made out.— (Own Correspondent.)
