Fire. AncKLAND, Friday Night. The house of the Rev. Jobeph Mathews, of Kaitaia, has beeu burned down. The owner, his wife and grandchildren, barely escaped. Tue insurances were, house and furniture, £200.
Drowning Case. Anuie Bergtr, aged 12, has been drownod in the Awanui at Mongonui. Horse Sale. Mr Buckland sold the following thoroughbred Btock to-day :—Yearling colt by Ariel-Queen Mab, 40gs, Mr Hunt ; three-year-old colt by MusketByronia, 20gs., Mr McGee; four-year-old mare by Musket-Pastime, 40gs., Mr Lennard ; three-year-old gelding by Feve passed in »t 37gs.

As extraordinary discovery had besn made in the parish church of Stourmoufch, near Wingham, Kent, a nest of bees being uncovered in the roof of the chancel. Its existence was known to the officials, but no idea seems to have been formed as to its size. However, the vicar died, and as the church had to undergo repair, the bees were destroyed by fumigation, and on the honey being taken there waus found to be nearly 2cwt of it.
