HARAPEPE.
Ox Sunday last, the 12th, we bad a visit fi Din the Uev. 13. Jlutson, who held tin me seivico in the school-house, theie was not as good a congregation as there might !u\o bpon, but I suppose the unsettled look of th 3 weather was the cause of li, .is many live along way off. After the mm vice them was. a congiegational meeting, .i committee was f.unied and it was decided th.it we are to have a service held heie once a month. We h.uc bfen getting some very wild j weather here of late, plenty of i.nn and ln o h winds, so lough and wet that woikinpout of doois was almost impossible. Potato planting has been very much delayed by it, and up to the pic->ent tune the weathei is still veiy unsettled. Mr Fidler, the Government school inspector, was here a few weeks back to e\aimne the scholaus, and for a half time school they passed \ery well. 1 should like to see our population increase, so that we could have, a full time school, but fanning pioipects aie so bad that I suppose veiy few aie inclined to take up land and stait fanning. Theie is plenty of good land to be had over heie, and at a leasonablo price, but many seem to piefer what aie called nnpuncd fauns, said improvements consisting in many cases of old worn-out grass, lotion fences and plenty of fmve to clean oh and giub up. I see by the papeis that some of the Cambndge people aie going in hot foi destioying hawks, 1 think they aie sportsmen, not fanncis, or they would know that h.'iwks aie the bestiabbit destioyers that we have, and also cats, notwithstanding all V'li spm ting coiiespoudent at Te Awamutu -ajs to (he contiaiy. — (Own Coires- | pondent.
