A. NMiiJROUiiiA attended meeting of humi.beio of the above club wji held in Xnkwood's Hotel on Tuesday evening. Mr Dyer, having been appointed chaunian, asked Mr .Shriip if he had .my xepoit or balance-sheet to lay befoio the meeting. — Mr Shaip said the secietaiy. Mr H. Wilson, was away, and no lepoit 01 balance-sheet hud been prepaied. lie (Mr Shaip) had no data fiom which to piepale either. When he lesigned the secietaryship, on Kiel) Febuuiy, 1881, lie handed over £2 13i 3d, and the club then owed .sonic two or tlnee shillings. (In answei to a question fiom the chau) Ho would say, appioximately, the club owed about -Is (id. Then 1 weie other debts connected with the cnckcting cncle, but these weie not club debts, and the club was not itself responsible. -The chaiunan de*ned tlie fullest mfoimation as to who wa-> io-.pon-.ible. — -Mr Sh.upsaid themacch with the Otahuhu team was aftei his 1 equation, and any expenses on this match were mcmied by the players, who woie liable, ami not the club. — Mi Longbottoni did not know how the matter .stood, but wns agioeable to pay his share of the liability. — Mr ttimms produced two bills, one for &3 to Mr Cutei for hiie of a diag, and one for 10s lid fiom Mr (Jeo. Dickonson foi eiicket ball. The £3 to pay Mi Caitei'.s bill had been collected fiom the plavcis and handed oum to a member, who had failed to pay Mi Cuter. — Several inembeis intimated th.it they had paid their share. — Mr Knkwood said it was a great pity Mich a stigma had been tlnown on the C.imbndge Czicket Club as appealed in The Waikato Times, as all the mcmbeis had paid what they weie entitled to, but tlie money had been into bad hands. Th.it paity was 'iway, and the other members should be excuu'iated fiom the blame winch that aiticlo imputed Every individual member had paid Ins wav except the piopei paity. Ho was the one who owed the money, and not the Cambridge Ciicket Club. (Applause.) The Clianinan. Theie ate no accounts behne the meeting, consequently none to conhim. Before pioeeeding to the election of officoi-. Mr Simms proposed that Mr Diekin-on's account and two other small .iccounts be paid. The member who had rccened the money to do io, had guaranteed to pay the £3 to Mr Cniter.— Cauied.— Mi Kirkwood pioposed that the club holds itself liable for Mr C.ntpr'a claim, in the event of "that member" not paying. If not legally they weie moially liable, and Mr Carter had tieated them very libeially in the leasonable charge he had made. He therefore proposed that unless the amount were paid before the end of the season, it should be paid by the club. — Carried unanimously. — A member list was then opened, and about 30 signatures obtained. — Mr Kiikwood moved " That the annual subscription be os.'" (Seconded by Mr J. Steele. Mr Simms moved, as an amendment, "That the subscription be 10s (id."' Seconded by Mr M. Stubbing. — Several mcmbein spoke to botli resolution and amendment. — Mr P. Richardson thought 5s enough. The .Mibscuption to the club had always been that sum. — Mr Fitzgerald was of opinion that 10a (id was little enough. Their former troubles- had been through having too low a subscription. They should endeavour to have a reserve fund. — Mr Kukwood feaied a high fee would tend to exclude youugsters. Many piomisiug young ciicketeis would be kept out of the club if the fee were raised. He thought they could laise enough by canvassing for honorary members, and was desirous of encouraging youthful cricketer.-*.-- -Mr Fitzgerald threw out a good suggestion, that the subscription should be 10s Gd for membeis over twenty years of age, and five shillings for thot-e under that acre. The subscription was fl\ed at ss. The meeting then proceeded to the election of officers for the .season, which resulted as follows : — President, Dr. Waddington ; vice-presidents, Messrs Kirkwood and Dyer ; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. Sinjinn, — On tho question of electing a oaptain, Mr Steele asked whether it was proposed to have a oaptain of the club or of tho team, and it was decided that each team should elect their captain on the field. — On the motion of Mr Kirkwood i nle 3 was rescinded, and the number of committee increased from five to seven. The following members were appointed as a committee : — N. Hunt, R. Longbottom, J. Steele, Sharp, Fitzgerald, Hitchman, and A. B. Stubbing. — In reply to a question, Mr Longbottom stated that the club possessed one bat, one good ball, half dozeti batting-gloves, three pair wicket-keeping gloves, wickets, net, leg-pads, &c, in good pondition. They wanted another bat or two., and a ball. There were several pri« vate bats,— On the motion of Mr Hitohman, it was decided to get up a soratch match on Wednesday afternoon, as a general holiday was to be observed. Votes of thanks to the chair and to Mr Kirkwood for the use of his room terminated the proceedings. ( •*• - A committee meetirig was subsequently held when it was decideekto discontinue the practice of giving dinners to visiting teams, having a lunch on the ground instead, and in future expenses of members going to play matches elsewhere should be paid by tho club.
