«. . Some time ag a petition, as already stated in the columnsof The WaikutoTmie«, was signed praying the Uovernment lo make To Awamutu a town district. The request has been complied with and the town was gazetted on thrc 3rd inst. The first election of commissioners takes place on Ist November. Mr ff. Roche has been appointed returning officer. The factory began operations last Monday. The supply of milk was rather'small, but this is owing to the fact that there aie not many cows in milk .it piesent. The supply how ever is mci easing every day and a larger quantity is expected by the end of the mouth. Additional accommodation has been provided for pigs. Those kept last year paid so well that it is intended to keep a laiger number this year The bacon made last winter is of excellent quality and sold readily. —(Own Correspondent.
