Tiik North British Agncultunst, of August 13th, reports :— Edinburgh Sheep and Cattle Market.— The number of sheep in the market \v.\s about the same :is l.v-1 Tuesday, but fcho show of l.nnbs was smaller. The unfavourable state of tlie weather was much against the market, the prolonged thunder-storm acoompanied by heavy rain, having the effect of making stock have a miserable appearance, and driving customers out of the market-place. Lambs were a poor show, there being a great want of those of good quality. A clearance of the inferior qualities of both sheep and lambs was difficult to make. Top price of best mutton, !)Ad ; current, 9d to d{d ; middling down to~Bd per lb. Of fat cattle there was a laiger show. For the best descriptions, of which very few were on offer, there was a good demand, but the prices were slightly in the purchaser^' farour. A clearance was effected of all but a few Irish, which weie short of quality. Top price of beef, 9s 9d to 10-. ; hecondaiy, ite 3d to 9s Gd : inferior down to 8s per imperial stone. Numbeis in the maiket compared with last Tuesday :— Fat sheep and lambs 104(>, against 1430; fat cattle 93, against 02. To-day there wa.s a smalk-r show of stock than on this day week, and with a smaller trade, prices remain unaltered excepting in Irish stoie^, for which slightly reduced off ei-^ had to bo accepted. —Glasgow Cheese.— To-day the arrivals of home cheese were again abundant, but many of the parcels were so out of condition, owing to the warm weather, that they were quite unsaleable. Anything choice was readily sold. Cheddars. \<uied from flos to GOs ; Dunlops, 52s to 58-^ Ameiicans were offered freely ; quality good. Medium and fine descriptions met a fair ■ale at late values.
