Cairo, October 3. Details regarding the re-ejpttue of Berber by Egyptian troops under General Gordon aie now to hand ftoni Dongola The information has arrived thete tiom Ambukol, a town on the Nile near old Dongok, the Governor of which place repoils as follosvs :—: — General Gordon, with four steamers towing boa*"s containing troops, left Khartoum and proceeded down the Nile as far as Sliendy, about midway between Khartoum and Berber. Finding Sliendy deserted, Goidon proceeded to Berber, which was touud in the occupation of the rebels Two steameis placed in the middle of the Nile then bombarded Berber, the ganison cind inhabitants of which fled after lemoving their treasure. The town was subsequently occupied by the Egyptian troops. Loxdox, October 4.
