OPENING THE CAMBRIDGE RAILWAY.
A MEi:riNfi of the members of the Cambridge Town Board was hold on Thuusday afternoon, for the purpose of considering what steps should be taken to celebrate in a suitable manner the opening of the vailMay. Goininiisioneis Hou<;hton (chairman), Hewitt, Gillett and LewU were present. After con.iiclpr.vble discussion it was decided to erect an 01ua111ent.1l a-rcli at the entrance to the railway station grounds in Lake-street. It was also agieed that a sum of money be expended in tirewoiks, with which to make a display in the evening, and a subscription list was started in the room for this purpose. Cr. Hewitt assured the meeting that the proposal to have :v public dinner had not been favourably entertained by the public, and this idea was accordingly abandoned.
