TUHURCH, Tuesday. Iu reference to the impoi ting of salmon ova, the Canterbury Acclimatisation Society decided to day to apply to the Government for a subsidy in aid of their effoits. In consequence of thegreatdestruction of flonndeivs in Like Ellesmere, the society resolved to ask the <>ovcrnmeut to restiict fishing there by legislation or Oi dei-in Council. The Sehvyn County Council, at a meeting to day, resolved to urqe on the Govern ment the ad visibility of a subbt.mti.il endowment being made for the maintenance of the hospitals, ete. Mr.r. L. Brown, timber merchant and fimer, has tailed. The liabilities are wiy hea\y.
