Tub second meeting of this union waheld in S. Andrew's schoohoom on Tues day evening. Tlicie was a very large attendance of the public, including several ladies, but the members did not muster as strongly as might have been expected. ; The Speaker took the chair at 7.30, and opened business in the usual way. The following notices of motion were piven : — by Archdeacon Willis, "That Monday be the night of meeting instead of Tuesday," by Mr Edgar, "That a committee be appointed to reviss The Standing Orders ; " by Mr Edgar. " For leave to bring in a bill to fine members for culpable non-attendance;" by MiHill, " For leave to introduce a bill to form Victoria Road from where the Government left off, into the township." The Treasurer moved that the House go into comimtte of supply to consider the question of finance and other matters. Mr Gwynneth and other members of the Opposition opposed the motion on the ground that due notice had not been given, the notice not being on the order paper for the evening. The question was argued at length, and on a division being taken the motion to go iuto committee of supply was lost on the voices. The Premier then brought forward a bill intituled " The Railway Time-table Confirmation Act, ISS4," which was road ,a first time, and afterwards read a second time In moving the second reading, Mr Dyer spoke at some length out the scope of the measure before the House, and pointed out the advantages which the proposed new time-table would afford. The House was then moved into committee to consider the bill. In Committee, Mr Gwynneth moved an amendment on the Government proposal that the hour for the train leaving Auckland be 11.30, and for arriving at Cembiidge at 5.45, that the hour for departure from Auckland should be 10.30, and for arrival in Cambridge 4.45 ; also that a train leave Cambridge at 7 a.m. arriving in Auckland at 1 or 2 p.m. The Premier intimated that this would be made a ministerial question. The Leader of the Opposition, Key. H. R. Dewsbury, moved that the committee report progress and ask leave to sit again next meeting. Motion carried on the voices. The Speaker then resumed the chair. Mr Edgar then moved, " That a committee consisting of the Rev. H. R. Dewsbury, the Speaker, the Chairman of Committees, and Mr Dyer, meet to revise the standing orders, so as to adapt them'to the requirements of the House." Motion put and carried. The question brought forward by Archdeacon Willis re alteration of meeting night from Tuesday to Monday was postponed tijl next sitting. Mr Dyer moved fho adjournment of the House, and the House adjourned accordingly.
