THE EARLY CLOSING QUESTION AT CAMBRIDGE.
The following circular on the above matter has been distributed in Cambridge :—: — To mh, Inhabitants oi- Camdridgk and Surrounding DisrmcTS. The employees in the various -.tores in Cambridge hcicbv solicit your kind help in maintaining the six o'clock movement, which is in danger of being upset through the refusal of one storekeeper to keep to his written agreement, and is thus threatening a number of us with a great and needles:, increase of our labours. We shall not, if this happens, be able to take part, in any oi the social, religious, or other meetings, which we find at present .1 great help and recreation to us. We arc aw.ire that some of the public will be at times put to , inconvenience, though not being able to purchase after six o'clock, but we would ask >ou to kindly make a sacrifice in this matter, on account oi the great benefit which we will thereby attain through your help and consent to the early hour We take the liberty of giving you a list ot the Storekeepers who are willing to close early, but it is minitest that unless all agree, the movement must tall through. We would respectfully call jour attention to a Public Meeting to be held in the Public hall on Friday evening nc\t, at 7 p m., in support of the movement, which will be addressed by the sever.il Ministers of religion in tin- district and bv some ot our employers and other kind friends, bigned on behalf of the assistants.
