THE CAMBRIDGE DAIRY PRODUCE AND BACON FACTORY.

A meeting of tbc directors of the above company was held at Gillett's National Hotel o» Saturday evening last. Present : Messrs T. B. Lewis (chairman) Richardson. Hill, allwill, Ferguson .and Kallender. Withdkawal of Shares. —Mr Rhodes, of Tam.vhero, wrote to the effect that as the site for the factory had to his mind been materially altered he would have to withdraw his support (ten shares) from the company. — It was agreed that Mr Rhodes' letter be allowed t« lie on tho table. Visit to Hamilton Factoiiyj— The chairman reported that the visit of Messrs Richardson, Watt, Kallendar, Hill and himself to the Hamilton factoiy had been of a most satisfactory kind. They had been met by Captain Steele and Captainßunciman mi their arrival, and these gentleman had shown them over the factory and had taken great pains to point out to them anything of advantage in starting their factory. Every deficiency had been pointed out to them and carefully noted. They had carefully observed wheio improvement could be effected. They had been given to understand that the Hamilton factoiy had expended more money than was necessary in the purchase of plant, and far too much hind had been acquired for their 1 equipments. This could not be so in their case as they had only ncquiied about four acres, and in this 1 expect they would save a lot of money. Captain Steele and Captain Ruuciinan ■were desci ting of the best thanks of the company for the valuable information and assistance they had afforded. The Chairman's remarks were endorsed by the other gentlemen who visited the factory. It w.is then agreed after a little discussion that the chairman, Mr Lewis, with Me»sis Hill, Allwill, and Rich.ird.son, proceed to Auckland on Thursday morning to purchase the necessary pl.mt. Mr R. W. Dyer (Mr F. A. Whitaker) who was present wab instructed to take the necessary steps without delay to constitute i the comp.my. Sellction op Siti:,— The question of the .selection of tlio site whs then proceeded with. Two .sites had been offeied— one by Mr Allwill, and the other by the Auckland Agricultural Company. Mr AllwiU's site is adjoining the Fen Couit Station, and i was on tho line of lailway ; it consists of 3\ acre*, is laid down in grass and fenced, and was offered for £100, payable in two years. The Company's site consists of 6 acres 3 roods, is unimproved, and was offered /it £0 per acre— The Chairman pointed out the advantages of AllwiU's .site in preference to the other. AllwiU's site was undoubtedly the best, and they had nothing to do but go and build on it without any fuither improvement, whereas the other would require a large evpendituie of money, with Alhv til's site they would have a railway siding, and would thus save carting expenses. Possibly the railway authorities would object to the factory being on the line owing to the effluvia ftom the pigs. In the long run, everything considered, AllwiU's site would be the cheapest. —Messrs Watt and Hill were in f ay our of the Company's site being purchased. The cost of improving it would be comparatively tiifhug, and it would be more retired. If they selected AllwiU's site they ran the chance of having to move their premises if the railway authorities objected to the nuisance. Mr Hill concluded by moving that the Company's, site bo accepted. — Mr W.itt seconded.— The Chairman moved, as an amendment, that All will's site be accepted. — Mr Kallendar seconded. — For the amendment Mess.ro Lewis, Richardson and Kallendar voted, and for the original motion Mcsis Ferguson, Hill and Watt voted.— The Chainn.ui gave his casting vote for the amendment, which v\.\s declared carried. Railway Siding.— lt was agreed to a^-k the Government to lay off a siding t > the factory. Fihm' Call. — It was agreed to make a call of Is in the £, to be paid into the Colonial Bank. The Chairman and Mr Richardson were appointed to sign cheques. This concluded the bun'ties*.
