CAMBRIDGE TOWN BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of this body was held at the Town Board Office yesterday. Present : Crs. T. Wells (chairman), Richardson, Johnson, Hewitt and Ciaik. Town District Act. — The Chairman refeired to the working of the Town District Act, which he considered had been very satisfactory. Another meeting of the board would be held next Monday morning when a full statement of accounts &c would be brought forward prior to the present board going out of office. Elections. — The Chairman notified that the next biennial election would take place on Wednesday 17th September, the nomination to take place on the 10th, Mr J. P. Thomson had been appointed Returning officer. Illkual Rksoiie of a Cow. — The Chaiiman said he had seen Mr Bartlett about rescuing a cow from the ranger when on its way to the pound. He (Bartlett) had agreed to pay 5s to the ranger and 10s to the public library. Fence Between the Bridges. — Attention was drawn to the damage which had been done by larrikins to the rail fence between the Karapiro and Waikato bridges, and also down the hill to the river. — It was agreed to instruct the surfaceman to repair the fence, and also to erect notices at the place, cautioning persons again&t damaging the fence, aud offering a reward of £2 for information leading to the conviction of anyone so doing. Cattle Sale Yards. —On the suggestion of Cr. Clark it was agreed to make certain repairs to the above property, cost of same not to exceed £3.
