The following bills were intioduced and read a first time :—A bill to amend the Licensing Act 1881, Amendment Act, 18S2 (Mi- Shrunski); to confer additional powers on the Kaiapoi Domain Board (Mr Richardson); Munakau Haibour Board (Mr Hamlin); Caversham Diainage (Mr Barron); Otago Harbour Board Empowering Act, 1875, Amendment (Mr Ross) ; Pensions (Mr Shiiniski) ; Inveicargill Reserves Leasing (Mr Hatch); to abolish plurality of voting at elections of members for the House of Representatives (Mr Barron); Police Offences (Mr Stout); Mairied Women's Property (Mr Stout); Tnnaru M.irket Reserves Leasing (Mr Turnbull); to extend the hours of polling at Parliamentary elections (Mr Bairon); to provide tor the disposal of unclaimed land, (Mi Wokefield); tr. prohibit the introduction of animals into the Chatham Islands (Mr Wakefield); mines act, 1877, amendment (Mr Seddon.) MOTIONS. The following motion* woic ran ied. For a leturn of the existing endowments foi secondary and university education in tht> colony, (Mr Seddon). A letmn .showing the appioMinate value of school building*., teachers, dwellings, etc., (Mr Moss). A letmn shewing the number of Armed Con stabulary in each of the Noilh Island di«tiicK, also the number of Maoris in each district, (MrMoss.) HANSAUD. Mr Seddon moved that Hansard should be sent free to city councils, borough councils, and road boards. Mr Hursthouse moved as an ameudment that it be abolished altogether. For the amendment there voted 12; against, 72. Mr O'Connor moved, as a further amendment, that a charge be made to cover the cost of printing, binding, etc. Corned on the voices. Mr Fulton moved, as a further amendment, that the ft ci? list be abolished, with the exception of one copy to each member. The question was put, that the amendment stand part of the question. Ayes, 41; noes, 43. The original motion as amended was then put and carried. APPOINTMENT OP COMMITTEES. In view of the no-confidence amendment, Mr Stout said that the Gorernment would not proceed to move for the election of the ■essionalcommitteesof which notice hod been tabled, unless such committees as were of an urgent character. The Library, House and Standing Orders Committees were appointed, and the Hou.se adjourned at 4.35 till 7.30 p.m.
