DUNEDIN, Monday.
The judges got through their duties to-day at the postponed baby show, Amongst the happy fathers of prizetakers are a doctor and a solicitor. The police have made enquiries regarding the reported existence of smallpox at Balclutha, and find that there aie only a few cases of scarlatina. On Sunday a house at St. Kilda, occupied by l)aiiu.*l Hart, was destroyed by fire. It was msiued for £200 in the South British office. The grocery store of Robert Richie, Kaikoura, was also burnt down. The building was insured in the National office for €100, and the stock in the United office for £250.
