STREET IMPROVEMENTS AT KIHIKIHI.
At the ordinary monthly meeting of the Kihikihi lown Board held ou Monday evening last, the board, amongst other important measures decided upon for the improvement of the township, resolved to cut down and complete the formation and gravelling of the footpaths on the east side of Lyon-street, which work was included in the late Government loan of £200, but subsequently this sum was found inadequate to carry out the plan proposed in the original estimate. The formation now decided on commences opposite the Alpha Hotel, thence along to Elmsly's store and property. Galloway-street was also put on the supplementary work estimates for the year. This street is to bs widened and graded to the requisite level, and is to have a brick culvert at its junction with Motile-street, which will give the lead for the main drain. The work of forming the footpaths from the Te Awamutu end on one side to the Kihikihi Hotel on the other will be carried out by the board concurrently with that of the construction of the county road by the Waipa Council. — (Coneapondeut, August Bth.)
