THE OPENING OF PARLIAMENT. [BY TELEGRAPH. — PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
Wellington, Wednesday Night. Parliament will be opened by commission to-rnonow afternoon. The Commissioners will ba the *hon. Sir Wm. Fitzherbert and the hons. R. Oliver and G. M. Waterhonse, and Sir G. Whitmoie. The members of the Lower House, on assembling in their own chamber, will be summoned to attend the Commissioners in the Legislative Council Chamber, and the commission will then be read, and Parliament be declared formally open. The members of the Lower House will then be instructed to return to their own chamber and elect- a Speaker, and present him for approval to the Governor, who will on a future day inform Parliament of the reasons which have induced him to call it together. On returning to the House, the new members will be sworn in by the Clerk of Parliament, who will receive the returns from the Clerk of Writs. On the swearing in being completed, the House will proceed to the election of Speaker. His Excellency will probably attend and deliver the usual speech on Friday afternoon.
