We have again tetui ned to our cus tomary dullness a f ter the excitement ot the election, which was however cdnicil out in a good spiiit on both sides, \\ ltliout leaving any animosity behind. For the Western Distiict Maoii election, for the first time, a poll was taken at Otoiohanga in the King country. There was little 01 no excitement theie, all the eleetois but two polling for Wetcie Te Reienga. Mr Aubin proposed and Mr Sinden seconded, " That a com mittee be formed, to diaw up a petition to the Government icspectfully asking them to take into their senous consideration of at once taking over and peiiciming the veiy necessary woiks as indicated by the chaiiinan. — Cariied unanimously. — The meeting then appointed the following committee to diaw up the petition, vi/., Messis J. I). Hill, John Aubin, J. Miles, M Assmuss, A. Smith and T. Finch. — With a vote of thanks to the chairman the meeting concluded. There were some ratepayers ptesent.
