MELBOURNE MARKETS.
Messrs Goldsbuough and Co. report under date Melbourne June 30 :—: — Wool. — The transactions in this mnrket since the issue of our last ciicular on the 2nd instant have been limited to the u«ual monthly auctions, which are now become a feature of the winter season. About 1113 bales have changed hands, consisting of scouted lots from the Kiver Darling, the lower part of which has beon navigable for steameis of light draught during the past few weekfi. Only a small quantity of the liberated wool has as yet come to hand, but as a large propoition of the clip is intended for disposals in this market some further consignment may be shortly expected at the waiehouses. The pi ices ienlised for the lots, sold weic veiy satisfactory, ordinary to good scouted fleeces langing fioin 17 } d. to 20., the bellies and pieces fiom 13d, to Ki^d. per lb. Fellmongors' parcels were also well competed for, and lealised full lates. The following aie current quotations : — For moiino : inferior to middling greasy, ."id. to 9d.; medium to good scouied, 14d. to 20d. For cto»sbrcd: oidinary greasy, <ikl. to B',d ; average scoured, 12d. to I.TUf. pei lb. Moni'hu (in mn'Rli'Oiii'.— Although the shipping demand foi wheat and flour has not been very busk during the past month, our expoits have been on a f.ur scale, several ships having cleaied out for the United Kingdom, and our total quantity expoitod to all quaiteis since the opening of the sea-ion is now upwaids of 182,000 tons. Within the last few days, owing to the ships loading being »o few in number, and no ficsh engagements being entered into, prices ha\e leceded, and the month closes with a, veiy dull feeling. Unless more favomablo news is tepoitcd fiom homo, t^e prospects ;ue thai lower puc^s will mle, as v.ith present values nothmg but loss can lesult in shipments. Oui season has so far been veiy faunuable, fine rains having fallen throughout the colony, giving eveiy piomise of an abundant harvest for ne\t year. — Wheat. — Present ruling rates are for all good shipping pat eels 4s 2d per bushel, f.0.b., but the demand is slack, and outside some shipments by steamers theie is little doing. — Floui. — Dull of sale, from £8 5s to £8 10^., with very limited inquiry.— Oats have shared the general d illness of the maiket, pi ices ruling from 2s Od for infei ior to 3s 2d foi pi ime feed. — Bailey has also leceded in value. Best figure now obtainable foi prime malting, 4s Cd ; feed descriptions up to 3s. — Maize is woith 4*> Gd ; peas, 3s 7d ; beans, 4s (id ; and bran, Is per bushel.
