SYDNEY MARKETS.

Messrs Mortand Co., under date, rep>rt, Sydney, July 1. Wool. — The second seiies of London sales which commenced on 2/th April terminated on 12th June, 338,000 bales h.i\ ing been offered, of which 38,000 were withdrawn. Catalogues have been received up to 13th May, and these we regret to find tiro quite as disappointing to shippers as we had been led to expect by telegraphic advices. — Subsequent information received by cable does not warrant the hope that tho later sales of the series will shew much better result.— Those growers who availed of the colonial market during the past season have again good reason to congratulate themselves, and this result will no doubt lead to a larger amount than ever being offered here for sale during the coming season. —Year by year the Sydney wool sales aie coining more into favour, and as the quantities offered increase, an equivalent access may be noticed in the number of the buyers and the spirit of the competition. — In spite of the depressing nature of the London telegrams there has been good competition at the local sales for the few parcels available during the off-season, and the prices realised have been very satisfactory as compared with English cmrency. — Scoured has brought fiom 18d to 21d for good to superior, and fioin 14d to 17d for faulty to medium. Greasy has ranged from" Gd to (Hd, no good lines having been offered, Washed fluoce has been hi too small supply to afford a quotation. — The wool export for the year ending 30th June amounts to 318,7-18 bale*, being an increase of 53,280 bales upon last yeai's total to .same date. Grain.— Wheat.-— During the month the arrivals by rail have been limited. Best lines of New South Wales are worth from 4s 5d to 4h Gd, and New Zealand from 3s to 3s 6d.— Oats.— Heavy impoits from New Zealand have had a depressing tendency on the market, and to do business lower prices have to be taken. We quote best at 2s 5d to 2s 8d per bushel.
