ALEXANDRA.

Tukkk has been nothing worthy of record here for some time past, the settlement being at its dullest. The e;reater pait of the natives at Whatiwhatihoe are absent at tho gum fields, while those residing up country have little, or no produce to dispose of. There is not much excitement in election matters. Both candidates have paid us a visit. I see, as usual, Auckland, or rather Queen-street, is again anxious to look after our inteiests by choosing a candidate for" Waipa, and Mr T. B. ilill is to be sent up to tell us how to vote. I fancy he had better stay aw.iy. We have had quite enough oi friends of his introduction in the sparrows to cnie about his inteiference. The news of the dissolution of Parliament has reached Tawhiao and party in England. A cablegram was received here from the king on Satutday morning, and read out at Wliatiwhatihoe by his son Tv Tawhiao. It was to the effect— "That they were all quite well, and were receiving the most generous and lavish hospitality from the noblemen and gentlemen of England." Also, "That all the Rangatiras and his people are to vote and endeavour to secure the letuin of Major Te Wheoro to Parliament." A meeting was held at the settlement yesterday, and letters are to be wiitten to the \arious tribes acquainting them with Tawhiao's \wshes. — (Own Coi respondent )
