Ixtellmknck has been received of a ficsli outbreak of hostilities between the French and Chinese troops in Tonqnin. Accounts to hand state that a detachment of French regulars, numbering 700, were proceeding to occupy fjangson, an important town of the Tonquin-Chineso frontier, when they were attacked by a large foice of Chinese, who had been holding Langson in violation of the treaty c included last month between France and Kuna. A severe engagement ensued, resulting in the icpulse of the Chinese, who are said to have numbered 4000, with heavy loss in killed and wounded. The casuahtics on the bide of the French ai e given as 40 Killed. In consequence of the outbreak of hostilities, M. Patenore, the French Commissioner m Tonquin, has been ordered to Pekiu to demand teparation fiom the Chinese Government for the attack and violation of the Tientsin treaty. The French fleet under Admiral Com bet ha? further been ordered to proceed noithwards to support M. Patenore'3 demand.
