ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
A Gum-diggek, named Hardy, attempfanicide on Wednesday at the residence of Mrs Phillipps, Lucas'" Creek, by cutting his fore-arm near the wrist with a gum knife. As he did not make his appearance to breakfast Mrs Phillipps called him, but getting no reply sent a man to his room. On the man entering Hardy was lying in a pool of blood, in an exhausted state, with a wound in one of his arms. Word was sent to Constable Hutchinson yesterday, who proceeded fiom Devonport to Lucas' Creek, and brought Hirdy in to the District Hospital for treatment, where he w«3 received last evening. His wounds are not considered dangerous. Hardy came here from Melbourne, and has been exhibiting peculiar symptoms for some time past, combined 'vith melancholia. — Herald.
