I.v the House of Lords today Earl Granville, Foreign Secretary, in reply to an inquiry, stated that parleying with France, in connection with the projected European Conference on Egyptian affairs is proceeding in a very satisfactory manner. His Lordship added that he hope 1 to be able to make i statement on the subject next week. The Pall Mall Gazette to-day published a paragraph asserting thut England and France have arrived at an agreement regarding Egypt, and that England will lend that country eight millions ; that the British Government consents to the principle of multiple control of Egyptian finances ; that the British force will remain in Egypt for at least three yearß and a-h.ilf, and that Turkey will occupy the Red Sea ports, and send a force of fifteen thousand men to pacify the Soudan. The P. and O. steamship Valetta arrived at Plymouth to-day, from Melbourne on April 22. The Melbourne portion of the cargo of frozen me.it, ex Sorata, and consisting of 2667 carcases of mutton, has been sold at 5d to s}d per lb. The meat was in excellent condition.
