Tiik council held a meeting at the chambers, Olidupo, on Tuesday, June Sul. Piobent: — Councillois Lake (ch.iuman), Atkinson, Cot boy, Teasdale, GennaDii, Lang, and Tisdall. RoADh Clom:l> Ranctvoiiia District. — The clerk submitted to the council plans of roads pi oposod to be closed in the Uanpaolua vlistiicfc. On the motion of Or. Tcasdale, the council confitmed the action of th« llingjaohia ratepayers. Printinu. — The cleik submitted piicos for printing from the Herald, Star, and The Wai 1m to Times offices. The terms of The W«ikato Times wete accepted by the council as beins; the lowest. Correspondence. — A letter was received fioin Mr A. J. Francis, asking a refund of rate 3 paid under ptotest, a larger acreage being assessed than owned by Mr Francis. Application granted 1 . — Fioin the Pukeiiuiu School Committee, offering to lay a cuheit at the school entrance if the council supply pipes. Offer accepted. — From some natives, making a claim for a royalty on gravel. The council not having had any gravel as stated rejected the claim, and oidered a copy of the letter to be sent to the Kihikiln Town Boaid. liUBKAOEMKN.— The council decided not to put on any moie suifaceinen at piesent. Small Birds Nuisance. —The clerk w.is ordered to communicate with the vaiious local bodies to ascertain their views, and also whether they would undertake the disttibution if the council supplied the prepared grain. Fcikzk. — The council decided to cut futiie where liability is divided tather than allow the spreading to contiune, but without establishing any precendent, and only until the liability for Crown lands and delations of roads be asceitained, KiiiiKiiii — GALLOWAY-srnfcßr. — The Engineer lepoi ted that the chaiiinan of the town boaid had agieed to the deposit of soil in this street, and that the boaid was depositing yet more soil in this place — '"he cleik was diiecfced to obtain fiom the town board an expression of their \iews upon the matter of this new departure. Germain) moved, " That the council memorialise the Government to amend the existing acts, so as to reduce the advertising and other expenses inclined in woiking these acts.'" — The councillors present thought the subject called for careful consideiatio'n, and it was agieed to hold it over for discussion at the next meeting. Application Under Roads avd Bridals Act.— The Engineer was diiected to make up estimates and plans to £5000. — Crs. Atkinson; Corboy and the chairman were appointed a committee to decide on the woiks to be done on the Hamilton-Whatawhata road after receiving the engineer's report on the matter.
