SIR GEORGE GREY AT POVERTY BAY. [BY TULEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Gisborne, Friday.
Sir Q. Grey addressed a meeting at Ormond last night. The speech w.i« similar to that delivered in otlicr places. In Ins speech at Gisborne, Sir George Grey read an extract from the piosptctus of the Kncla land Coy, which pioposed taking up 16 ami a lull million acres ot land in Australia. Sir Julius Yogel was down for 1.j0.000 acres, the Eai I of Carnal yon. Sir Robert Herbert, the permanent Under-Secretary of the Colonial Office, Sir A. Stepi.ey, W S. McKennon and Col. Wade for 64,000 acres each. He was glad that the Gisborne people had not elected a large Austin lian squatter. He would take an eaily opportunity of bunging Sir R. Herbert's connection with the Company before the House of Commons. The meetings at Gisborne and Ormond weie oulerly in both places ; votes of confidence m Sir George as leader of the liberal party throughout New Zealand, weie carried in both places and tin ee hearty ringing cheers given,
