Civil Cases. (Before Mr H. W. Northcroft, R.M., and Mr E. B. Walker, J.P.)
R. Wright v. Minehera Powha.— Claim £37 4s 6(1 ; judgment debt. Mr Kecsing for plaintiff, Mr Campbell for the debtor. The plaintiff urged, as the debtor's ability to pay, that he had a claim in certain lands which had passed through the court. He was fully satisfied chat the debtor was a grantee in the Waotu Block, nnd received revenue from the WaiUato Timber Company. His Worship did not consider that this was sufficient proof. The phintiff would have to prove the debtor's ability to the court. MrKeesing applied for an adjournment for two months, that he might in the meantime to secure the necessary proof of the debtor's ability to meet the judgment of the couit. Adjournment granted. Stuart v. R. Wright.— Claim £1 16s, judgment debt. Mr Campbell for plaintiff. The defendant said he was unavoidably detained out of court when judgment was given, otherwise, had he been able to attend, he could have proved to the satisfaction of the court that he was not indebted to the plaintiff for the amount claimed. His Worship regretted the ciicu instance, but was unable to go back on the judgment of the court. Ordered to pay the whole amount on or before the Ist June, with costs, 15a. Bates v. Boddam.— Claim £1 12s. Mr Campbell for plaintiff. No appeirance of defendant. Judgment for amount, and costs £1 6s. Rites v. Napier.— Claim £7 15a. No appearance of defendant. Judgment for plaintiff for amount, and £1 14s 6d cost?. Hunter and Co. v. Thomas Bell. — Claim £11 10s 2d. Mr Campbell for plaintiff. Judgment for amount, and costs £2 10a.Bates v.
