CAMBRIDGE TOWN BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the above board was held at the Ton u Bo.ud office, Cambridge, yesterday morning. Present: Cis. Wells, (chairman,) Hewitt, Richardson and Clark.
Drainage at Lakk. — The chairman informed the Board of the result of the meeting of the Domain Board held on Saturday last, at which they resohed to carry out the terms of their lesolution of January last. The following 13 a copy of the resolution referred to : — That the Cambridge Town and Domain Boards jointly defray the cost of cauying out the proposed scheme of sinking a shaft, and making <i drive near the Lpke reserve, the sum to lie expended not to exceed £200 ; and that the Town Board superintend the carrying out the work under the supervision of a competent engineer, each board defraying one half the cost." It was then proposed oil the motion of Cr Clark, seconded by Cr. Hewitt, " That Commissioner Richardson be requested to prepaie plans and specifications tor the lake drainage, that the woik be carried out under the supervision of the streets committee and the chairman of the Domain Board, tenders to be invited and received up to the 2Gth inst." — Carried unanimously.
Special Melting.— It was further agreed on the motion of O. Welta, " That a special meeting of the board be held on the 26th itibt. for the purpose of leceiving tenders for the drainage scheme, and considering the subject of striking a rate for the ensuing year."
Tub Public Hall.— The Public Hall having now been handed over to the boaul, the treasurer of the hull committee Mr Brooks, fonvaidcd a statement of accounts to date, with an inventory of furniture, belongings, &c. On the motion ot Cr. Richardson it was agreed, " That the documents icceived fiom Mr Brooks ie Public Hall be accepted as correct ; tlv.t the hall committee be now relieved of all lesponsiblity, and that a cheque for the balance, ±89 18s 6d, be given to the treasurer.
Skating- Rixic— lt was agteecl that the seating link committee have the use of tho hall on the same terms as last year, 10a per night iioin 7 to 10 p.m., with eight lights,
Tin: Timblr CourAN'Y* Booms — The Chairman explained matters in connection with the placing of a boom across the Waikato rner busidc tlic town bj the Waikato Timber Company without the permission of the board, and also the possibility ot damage which floating logs might cause to the Kampiro budge in case of a heavy flood. It was necessary that they should lodge an objection to the boom, so that in case of accident they might claim damages.— lt Mas aqioed, after a little discussion, that the necessary notices foi iemo\al of booms be signed by the chairman, or in his absence by Mr Johnson, the acting cli.urina.il. Public Hall Ijuuiovlmi^ts. — It was auiced that the sheets committee should hi ing up their leport on the hall on Monday, 2(ith inst., at tho special meeting of the boaid to be held on that day.
