A private telegram received from Auckland this morning states that Mr A. MoDonald, M.H.R., left his resignation as member with his solicitor, to be handed to the Speaker after his departure. The scale of fees under the Resident Magistrate's Act, and also under the Licensing Act appears in to-night's Gazette Major Atkinson will address the Wellington electors on Tuesday next. - Major Atkinson will leave for Auckland next week, where he meets Mr Mitchelson. Friday. A slight shock of earthquake was experienced last night. The direction was east and west. In addition to 9000 carcasses vrhich the Gear Meat Company aro' freezing for the' steamer British King, they will freeze 4000 for the steamer Aorangf/ which leaves here direct for London.
