Major Atkinson, who intended going South this evening, ha 3 postponed his departure for the present, but will piobably leave in eight or ten days. The ship Lady Joeelyn sailed for London to day. She lias a large cargo of frozen mutton. The Premier and the Hon. Mr Bryce were present at the sham fight and review at the voluutcer encampment yesterday. Thelatter gentleman aftei wards expressed his surprise and gratification at the excellent manner in which the various movements weie pei formed. The Hon. Mr Rolleston addresses his constituents at Christchiuch on Saturday next. The Hon. Mr Connolly leaves for Ptcton on Monday, and avill address his constituents theie on Tuesday 01 Wednesday next. The case of Kate Boyle, who was convicted of infanticide recently, has been consideied by the Government, and a lecommendation has been made to His Excellency for her release. Wednesday. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, T. J. Glew, publican, and Fiederick Larrant, waiter, were chaiged with having made a false declaration under the Registiation of Electors Act, in respect to a claim to ha\e tluir names insetted on the Thorndon roll. The bench inflicted a fine of "20s and ss, respectively. A slight shock of earthquake was felt at 6 '20 this morning.
