SERIOUS ACCIDENT AT HUNTLY.
A man named John Kay, engaged as a miner in the Taupiii Coal Company's Mine, met with a very serious accident on Wednesday evening. He was putting in a blast, when some of the loose powder communicated with the candle, and an explosion ensued. Kay was terribly burned about the head and upper part of the body, and it was feared his eyes had been injured, but Dr Beale, who was telegraphed for and went down on Thursday, is of opinion that the unfortunate man's vision will not be impaired.
