Supreme Court Civil Session. Auckland, Wednesday Night. To-day judgment was given against W. L. Kees and Wi Pere, for £1,400 due to G. M. Reed. The claims of Jules Wilson, Richard and others were struck out, having been referred to arbitration. la the case of J. T. Buddie v. Broadkorb, for libel at Tauranga, the defendant was fined £25 and costs.
The City Council. Mr John Waymouth was elected to the City Council to-day without opposition.
Rifle Match. It! the rifle match, City Guards v. Japanese, the City Guards led by 75 points at the 200 yards range.
Te Aroha Battery. The proposil to erect a second battery at Te Arolia is not meeting with the t success it deserves, and the directors of the Waiorongomai company are now canvassing with the desirability of putting up a 20-stamper machine for themselves. They have £600 in hand and that, with small calls on 40,000 shares in the company, would provide sufficient funds to erect a battery.
