Sande3 seconded the motion with great pleasure, and his principal reason for doing so was that he, like the proposer, wwhed to see a library established m Hamilton. He thought they had reason to feel ashamed of themselves when they considered that every .other settlement in Waikato, evnn Hukanui, had its public library, and they were without one. He reminded the meeting that, though the council might \iew the proposal favourably, the iin.il decision rested with the ratepayers themselves. In order to carry the proposal, it was necessary that a majoiity of the ratepayers on the roll should vote for it, and he earnestly exhorted those who approved of the scheme to support it at the polling booth. (Applause.) The motion was put to the meeting and cairied unanimously. A vote of thanks having, on the motion of Mr Kn»\, been accorded the Mayor for presiding, the meeting terminated.
