HAMILTON WESLEY AN CHURCH.

The quarterly meeting of the Hamilton VVosleyan Circuit was held in Trinity Church, Hamilton, on Tuesday. Attor partaking of a sumptuous tea provided in the schoolroom by some of the ladies of the congregation, the oftice-baarers attended a, public meeting of the congregation in the church, the Rev. J. Dukes in the chair. In addressing the meeting, the lev. chairman congratulated the Hamilton circuit upon it» progress during the liist two years of its o\.i<-tonce. The income for this year more than doubled that of the previous year. The text which he would speak upon that evening was the proposed parsona4o. A committee had been formed, and they had decided to rent a hou&e (now being built bj Mr Campbell) with a purchasing clause of £400. Conference had placed £00 to the credit of the ciicuit, and if the ciicuit could raise £200 the Loan Fund would contiibute alike sum, free of interest, which would place them in a position to take advantage of the purchasing clause. He at some length advanced a. scheme of systematic giving as the beot means to bring about this end ; and bespoke the hearty co operation of the congregation. His scheme, if followed out, would do away with bazaars, which, if necessary at all, were necessary nuisances. He was giatified to be able to present a clean balance bheet, and trusted the ensuing quarter would be still more prosperous. Messrs French, Buttle, and J. C. Brown also ad- | dressed the meeting, and coincided with the j scheme propounded by the rev. chairman. The speecheb weie pleasantly interspersed with solos by Miss Salmon, Mrs Dukes and Mr Meachem, and several anthems were well rendeied by the choir, under the leadership of Mr Meachom. The usual votes of thanks weie passed, and the Benediction, pronounced by the Rev. Mr Dukes, terminated a very pleasant evening. A sum of £30 was promised at the meeting towards the new parsonage.
