KIHIKIHI NEWS.
[BY TKLEOKVPH.— OWN* CORRESPONDENT.] Kihikihi, Friday Night. Thi: Kihikihi Assessment Coiut was held last evening, Mr Northcroft, R.M., presiding. A large number of objections were lodged, many because the rate struck was too low. At a meeting of the Town Board, a lesolution for striking a rate of one-fifth of a penny in the £, to repay the loan of £200 for works in Lyou and Whitmore-stieets, jwas confirmed, i Two gentlemen just returned from Cambridge state that they have been authoritatively informed that a Land Oomt will be held heie without fail in nine or ten days. Colonels Reader and Lyou and staff left here this morning, after deciding that the Constabulary head-quarters be lemoved fiom Cambridge and established here. The buildings will be commenced forthwith.
