WAIKATO COUNTY COUNCIL.

Thr 'usual, monthly meeting of the council was held at the chambers, Hamilton, yesterday. Present : Capt. Steele (chairman), Grs. Rnnciman, Johnson, Graham, and, Primrose. Resignation of Councillors.— Cr. Wells wrote, regivtting that owing to the breakdown of lm health he had fco leave the distiict for some weeks and resigning his office as councillor. Cr. Hewitt also wrote, resigning his position as a member of the council. — The clerk was instructed to write Co Mr Wells, expressing the sympathy of the council, and its regret that the stare of his health should haveiendeied his leaignation imperative. Karapiro Bridge.— The TJnder-Secre-tary for Public Works wiote in reference to the application for a loan of £7.i0 under the Roads and Bridges Act for the Karapuo bridge, that as the bridge was in existence at the time of the passing of the aot, it did not come within the scope of the &arne. — The Clerk s.ud that the application had been made at the instance of the Cambridge Town Board. The reply from Wellington had been forwarded to the chairman of the board, which had since taken other means to clear off the liability on the bridge. Huntly CEMF/mn. — At the request of Cr. John.son, it was resohed to recommend the Go\ernor to appoint Messrs R. R. Ralph, L. B. Harris, Pearce Jas. Russell, Wm. Dunn, and Chalmers cemetery tmstees. Several accounts were passed for payment, and some routine business having been transacted the council rose.
