The batting of Mr Dunkley was again greatly admired, and hi* score of 51 a good one, and all his side played well, but on this occasion Alexandra was to be victorious, to which aid the excellent play of Messrs Chapman, Fitzpatrick, Collins, Hinton, and Martin greatly contubuted, Hinton taking eight wicket*, the game resulting on Saturday afternoon by Alexandra winning by 37 runs. At the conclusion of the match the \isitoxs proceeded in a body on a visit to T.iwhi.io's settlement at Whatiwbatihoe, and in the evening again met the local team to a dinner at Mr Finch's Hotel, which, it is almost needless to bay, was all that could be desired. Mr Collins, captain of the Alexandra Club, was in the chair, and Mr G. P. Ewing, captain of the Otahuhu team, in the \ ice-chaii*. The usual patriotictoasts having been disposed of, the chairman proposed the health of the visitors, coupled with the name of their captain, Mr Ewing. He had great pleasure in remembering how well the Waikato team had been treated on a late visit to Otahuhu, and hoped their visitors would have a like remembrance of their visit heie. He must say he felt somewhat proud of the result of the match, and the friendly manner it had been played out. He and all piesenfc had great pleasure in drinking their healths. Drank with musical honour. —Mr Ewing, in rising to respond, said that, .is only a young member of their club, he felt he was hardly the proper person to respond to the toast so cordially leceived, but as he had been elected captain on this occasion — he supposed from his fondnes-., tindfome little knowledge of the game he felt sure that the kind manner they had bjen leceived by bith their Alexandra and A.C. friend-, would for ever remain a green spot in their minds. They were a man short, which was not their fault, but losing the g.uno was their fault, but he hoped for another opportunity to regain their laurels. He mu>t say that while the Alexandra club had such men as Chapman, Hinton and Mai tin. they ought to be afraid of none. Ho had great pleasure in proposing the health of the A.C. team. — Drank with musical honours. — Mr Grierson, by request, responded. He was happy to meet them there, but could haidly wish they had been more sueces*fnJ. He hoped the matches played would be an annualaffair. — (Cheers.) Buth teams fhen sat down to conviviality, some excellent songs boing sang. The party breaking up shortly before 10 o'clock. S >meof the nathes at Whatiwhatihoe, hop} ing, f presume, tosecur *nlittlef»reign capital from the visitors, hired the. Public Hall and improwscd a haka and other dance 3 at Is a-head. and had, I am informed, a good house, including the majority of our \ isitors, who went out of curiosity.
