BIUDGKS ON THE WHITEHALL Ro\[). — 4. letter was leceived fiom Mr Jair.es Bailey, Auckland Agiicultural Company, on the above matter, stating that if the board would giveauthorityforexpendingasum not exceeding their (the company**) next year's ratpsmthedistiictforunpi ovingtheioad and mikingthebridgoa on the Whitehall propeity, under the direction of the company's engineer, Mr Bieakell, they would be willing to pay at an eaiher date than usual to meet this expenditiue, or would, if the board prefened, get the woik piepared, contracted for and executed, paying for the same and furnishing the board with voucher* for the expenditure as cash in liquidation of their rates. — It was agreed to give effect to Mr Bailey's proposal, by authorising the company to h.ive the woi'c done. — It was further agreed that the bridges be elected on sites to bo chosen by the committee of the bo.ird appointed for that purpose, and that the io,id be afteiwaids surveyed to take in the^>e bridges and the old 1 oad be closed, the land for the new road to be given by the company.
