PUKEKURA ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the board was held at the Pukerimn schoolhouse on Wednesday, 12th tilt. Present : Mr J. Fisher (chairman), Messrs S. Fleming, J. Gane and R. Reynolds. COKKEsPOXi)r.NOE. — A circular was received frimi Wai pa County Council stating the council would not be responsible for any works on the main road unless, their coiibent had been previously obtained. — A circular from Mr S. P. Smith enclosing tracings of load thiough lots 170, l."» 7, 17], 191 and 192, Pukekura. — A letter from Messrs Jai rett and Perkins, requesting the board to give larger pipes for culveit in Raleighbtreet, they offering to put them in free of cost to the board. The request was granted. — Letter from Mrs E. Kusab, asking the boaid to pay a sum of £5 per year for allowing a road thiough her pioperty ; also, for the boaid to erect two swing g.ite-. — Resolved, " That in consideration of a temporary load being allowed to Mr Bukowhkey, a sum of £2 10n a year be given, but the board would not erect swing gates. Road Repaiks.— Mr J. Fisher said the Ohaupo-Te Rori road requiied some \ery needful repairs, as in some places it was dangerous. — Resolved that Messrs Fleming and Uane see the road and write out specifications, tenders to be sent to Mr Fleming before noon of 25th inst. — It was resolved that the station ioad be re-foimed and gravelled . that the district road from main road at Cogan's hill be cleared half a chain wide and levelled with spade, work to be left to Mr Gane's supervision.- -Attention was drawn to the water lying on district road near Mr Tucker's, and it was resolved that Mr Reynolds see to it and ai range with Mr Tucker to get pipes laid for carrying off the water.

Special Meeting. — It was resolved that the Trustees meet on Wednesday the 10th inst. at 10 a.m. at the Cambridge West School to consider the best route for the proposed new road, from Lot 205 to the Mangapiko boundaries. Walkek's Gully. — Attention was drawn to some very needful repairs on the main road from Cambridge Bridge to Ohaupo, more especially in Walker's Gully and a gully near Cowley's, the late rains irakiiig some deep ruts. As this was one of the best roads in the county when taken over by the council, it was a pity the council did not have a surfacemen to see to the watertables being kept clear ; but it is to be hoped that some repairs will be done shortly, as the County Engineer when driving down Walkers Gully on Wednesday last nearly came to grief. Retiring Members.— On a ballot being taken, Mr John Fisher and Richard Reynolds were fixed on to retire, but they are eligible for re-election. Accounts.— Mr J. Forrest's account (balance), for work done on Bell and Tucker's road in several items wa-s considered too high, the work not being done to the satisfaction of the board. The same complaint was made with regard to F. O'Neill's account for Putney road. — Accounts were received and paid to the amount of £45 Is 8d — (Correspondent. )
