The House of Commons passed a vote ot ciedit for lulf-a-niillioti sterling, to co\er the expenses ot the British expedition to the Soudan. The Marquis of ILit tington, Secret iry of State, speaking to the motion, deemed it essential that the Red Sea ports should be held by Butish foiccs, and added that the Government accepted the full responsibility of the policy that may be pursued by the Egyptian Government during the time the Biitish occupation lasts
