ACCIDENT TO THE TAUPOOHINEMUTU CO A CH. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Auckland, Wednesday Night.
xVn alarming coach accident, which nanowly missed Inning most tiagical lehiilts, happened on Vx iday last to Kobeitson's coach, betwejn Tanpo and Ohmeniutu. Coining fr.mi the former place, and m hen on the otlior hide ot the Ateamuii Bridge, the hoi ses took flight through the coach being caught in a hole, the jeik tin owing oft the diiver, whose name is William'-. The horses started off at a gallop, the lein.s dragging on the ground, and when it was known that there wib a dangerous precipice a short way ahead, the position of six of the inmates of the coach was lendeied perilous in tbe extreme. Robeit Graham, sen., who was in the coach, at ones leaped off, with the intention of seizing the reins and stopping the galloping anunala, but in landing he hpiained his heel and fell heavily, injuring hi^ shoulder. The runaway horses meanw' i c increased their speed, and were within 30J yards of a precipice, when they were stopped through the coolness and courage of Mr Borman, who was a passenger. He crept along the pole of the vehicle until he aecured the reins, and getting back to the box seat, he wab able to pull up the horses. But for this exploit the coach most cer tainly would have been dashed to pieces, and probably all the occupants killed.
