Gordon Pasha arrived yesterday at Khartoum, and was well received by the populace. He has issued a proclamation, and has caused it to be publicly posted throughout the district. 'Jhe document recognises the Mahrii as the Sultan of Kordofan, an>>l announce? the remission of half the raves now levied, aud that free traffic in slaves will be permitted, v The Biitish expedition to Suakim will be confined to the relief of Tokar, and will not operate further against the rebels. Spies h.ive arrived at Suakim, stating that the Arabs are mustering in force near Tokar. The roads are carefully Matched by them, and the spies themselves hotly pursued. A Press Association message says :— The rebels aie now bombarding Tokar with Krnpp guns, and an attack on Suakim is imminent.
