DUNEDIN, Tuesday.
The local refrigerating company have received no cablegram from London about; the meat they sent by the Tonguiro. As the 10,600 carcases shipped averaged 66libs., the low prices cannot be attributed to the sinallne&s of the bheep. It ib hoped, as the cables are wrong in this particular, they may be incoriect also about tho low
prices. Wednesday. The Land Board to-day came to a decision in what arp known as the Silver Peak leases, of alleged dummjism. These are the leases of Robert Borthwick and Harry Herbs ell, who were alleged to be dummies in the intetest of Mr Orbell, runholder. Mr Stout moved that the licenses be cancelled, which was lost on the casting vote of the chairman (Mr J. P. Maitland). Mr Stout then moved that the question be referred to the Judge of the Supreme Court, whether, Mr Orbell having paid money to graze his sheep on the laud, etc., a breach of the Land Act had not been committed. This was lost on the casting vote of the chairman, and a motion by Mr J. Green, M.H.K, that the evidence was not sufficient to justify the cancellation of the licenses, was carried on the casting vote of the chairman also.
